SIDMA College UNITAR Sabah organised a Grand Homecoming on 5th June 2017 for newly crowned Sabah Unduk Ngadau (Harvest Queen) 2017, Ms Kerinah Mah, a sixth semester Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood Education) student. She is currently the fourth student from the college who has previously won the state Unduk Ngadau title. They were:

2007 - Jo-Anna Sue Henley Rampas

2015 - Ryanne Neils Yong

2017 - Kerinah Mah

Dr Morni Hj Kambrie (Founder and Chairman, SIDMA College UNITAR Sabah), Madam Azlina Ngatimin (Director) and Madam Azizah Khalid Merican (CEO) as well as the Heads of Departments were also present to welcome home the newly crowned 2017 Unduk Ngadau and took the opportunity to congratulate Kerinah for her success and recommended that she manage her future wisely, as currently she is one of the most beautiful girl in Sabah. Also present during the event was Madam Juliana Jimis, Chairlady of Kadazan Society Sabah, Putatan Branch (also key trainer in the Kadazan Language Public Speaking and Conversational Course).

Dr Morni also took the opportunity to announce that SIDMA College UNITAR Sabah will assist her in any way possible to ensure that she complete her Bachelor in Education (Early Childhood Education) successfully. Dr Morni also offer to assist in her professional development such as improving her Kadazan Language proficiency by sponsoring her to the Kadazan Language Public Speaking (conducted by Madam Juliana) that focuses on communicational skills, public speaking and conversational skills, as well as in her academic studies. Dr Morni also put forth his suggestion to assist her to undergo her Masters and her PhD studies upon completion of her degree; and be the first Unduk Ngadau to receive a Ph.D.

Ms Kerinah Mah, who represented Kota Kinabalu City Hall (DBKK) defeated 43 other contestants and took the role of legendary spirit of “Huminudon” from former Unduk Ngadau, Ms Sherry Anne Laujang. During the recent state event, she won herself RM45,000 in scholarships sponsored by the Asian Tourism International College and the Almacrest International College, a return ticket to Bangkok, RM8,000 in cash, a Samsung Galaxy A5, a trophy and more.

Kerinah who was crowned by Puan Sri Genevieve Kitingan, the wife of Tan Sri Joseph Pairin Kitingan (Deputy Chief Minister as well as Huguan Siou (Kadazandusun Paramount Leader) during the event held at Kadazan Dusun Cultural Assocation hall (Hongkod Koisaan) said that she was shocked when announced as winner as other competitors were also equally good during the finals.

In her short impromptu speech, she thanked Dr Morni and SIDMA College UNITAR Sabah for the Grand Homecoming celebration. She too thanked SIDMA’s Board of Management and lecturers as well as staff who has shown and guided well during her studies here. She too highlighted that she owed to the college for her public speaking and conversational skills and confidence, as she enjoyed all those project paper assignment as well as presenting her finding to the class.

She also announced that she choose to continue her studies at SIDMA College UNITAR Sabah, despite winning for herself RM45,000 in scholarships sponsored by the Asian Tourism International College and the Almacrest International College as part of the winning package that she won during the competition. Immediately after the homecoming, she registered herself to continue for her sixth semester studies in the college.

She added that she has always wanted to be an educator and advocate for young children and she will never give up her Early Childhood Education studies. However she love visiting places, admire unique cultures of different countries; and that she will always be a mini Malaysia Ambassador promoting Malaysia particularly Sabah, the lovely Malaysian and our national culture to people she meet and places she visited.

She too took the opportunity advising all her fellow course mate, as well as all SIDMA College UNITAR Sabah students that they need to be willing to work, be brave to dream big and be committed to make their dream come true.

Dr Morni, Madam Azizah, Madam Azlina, Heads of Departments, lecturers, staff as well all SIDMA College UNITAR Sabah citizens conveyed our congratulations and we felt very honoured and proud that Kerinah is willing to continue her study at SIDMA College UNITAR Sabah. We, citizens of SIDMA College UNITAR Sabah, are very proud of you. And we wish you all the best. A very big applause from all of us to KERINAH MAH!!!.
