Being well-known for his entertaining, captivating, highly interactive and energizing personality while on stage, Dr Morni has successfully shared with teachers and students on his success stories from being a humble ordinary kampong boy selling locally / homemade cakes to the public; but because of his strong personality to aim high and great ambition to earn his Ph.D (Doctor of Philosophy), and that’s what brought him as he is today.

During the event in SMK Merpati, Dr Morni shared with the students on the challenges that he faced when he was young, as his father was then a pensioner and couldn’t sponsor his studies while he was in England. No financial assistance such as PTPTN loan was available at that time that he could turn to for assistance to finance his studies. Dr Morni touched on how he stood firmly by his strong determination to get his Ph.D. and had to work part-time at a McDonald’s outlet in England to finance his tuition fee in order to get his Ph.D. in Entrepreneurship from Sterling University, England in 1990.

Dr Morni hoped that students who have attended his talk can reflect on the related issues seriously and visualised themselves facing such situation to find meaning in their struggle in order to achieve their great future. He too challenged all the participants to view their future from different perspectives, in hope that this could inspire them to take the necessary actions, developing new strengths and strategies to overcome adversities, and achieve their dreamt future career.

The seminar’s immediate aim was to motivate students facing their upcoming SPM and STPM examinations, on the need to utilise and maximise all their efforts and potentials to enable them to excel in the mentioned examinations in order to achieve their dream career. Dr Morni also touched on various skills and effective learning strategies such as priority management skills, creative and critical thinking skills, communication skills as well practicing good values to enable them to approach the examinations tactfully. He too encouraged all the students to choose their tertiary education wisely, and further their tertiary education in their field of interest that will ultimately materialise their dreamt career and meaningful future.

Dr Morni, being a successful businessman felt the need to give back to society by focusing on activities that could complement and supplement the existing ongoing motivational activities conducted by various public sectors, as part of his Corporate Social Responsibilities (CSR) to assist students, particularly those from rural area and underprivileged students, to give them personal touch and motivate them to compete with all other students in all public examinations, and thereafter to pursue their tertiary education and in order to accomplish their vision.

In the process, Dr Morni mobilised his personnel and assets from SIDMA’s Corporate Relations and Business Development, Information Technology and Media as well as the Property Administration departments to ensure the overall successful implementation of the 2017 SMK Merpati Motivational Programme.
